Thats shame we could have done with some more staff in midfield

Pellegrini said today the only person we were interested in was Medel

They thought he would be a free but he wasn't.

Re: Official January transfer thread
Let's see how many we lose to Liverpool by and see how many will say we need reinforcements.

Season is finished now anyway. Unlikely we will get in to Europe, especially when our dependency on Arnautovic is crucial and he can hobble off with a bit of bruising.

We have allowed our club to be royally buggered by our owners and mercenary players.

Westham67 2:32 Fri Feb 1
Re: Official January transfer thread
We still can get Medel. Besikas haven't paid him so his contract will be void and he can join as free agent

Far too sensible an idea Leeshere!

Re: Official January transfer thread
Personally I think the January transfer window should be for loans only, with the summer window for transfers. Stops the crazy transfer prices and wage demands in January.
Plus clubs can only loan out a maximum of 4/5 players, stops teams like Chelsea from stockpiling players to loan out for a fee.

Re: Official January transfer thread
Again, glad we didn’t sign for signings sake or to stop the knicker wetting twitter fans. But even the Medel signing would’ve been a good one. Bit of utility to cover injuries but hey ho.

However, we’ve had months since the summer and it half looked like we were scrambling around again at the end of the window. What’s Husillos been doing? Unless he’s been compiling the summer list and doing his best to start flogging the dead wood. Realistically we need a back up GK, 2 CB, 2 fullbacks who can defend, mobility in the middle of midfield and probably 3 strikers. We have attacking widemen and creative players when fully fit. So they aren’t the first needs.

We need a complete overhaul of the recruitment process and ideas. We need to be looking at the way other clubs do it, like RB Leipzig, Dortmund etc etc. Young and hungry players with possible sell on value. We aren’t going to break the top six. We are in that 2nd mini league for top half finish. Stop this free agent, end of the road shit. I’m not saying we have the same money as the clubs mentioned and I’m not thinking it’s as easy as I make out it is but that’s how we should be thinking and looking. Being outspent by Bournemouth is a bit of a joke. They have no academy and their ground is tiny. We don’t need to be signing 8 Andersons but spending money on the squad this summer is a must. Looking to the future is a must.

Re: Official January transfer thread
Keep dreaming : Point me out where they have lied about money?

Honestly some just want to buy for the sake of buying. If there's nothing out there that will improve us without getting our pants severely pulled down why do it?

Much more sense to get you priorities in order for the summer and get the players that will make a difference - as in Anderson, Yarmolenko and Diop etc.

If G and S spend in the summer like they did the last I will not mind.

They did this last year as well.

In Pel we trust.

Re: Official January transfer thread
There's a lot of expectations in January that aren't justified imo.

Most PL clubs don't buy players in January unless they're in trouble. We got Nasri which is a major improvement. With Arnie, Fredericks, Wilshere and Lanzini to return soon and other players like Balbuena and Yarmelenko possibly returning before season's end we don't really have room or need as many players as most fans would like.

I'm not disappointed by Nasri and this young Portuguese lad.

That's because few clubs will sell unless the players are really not wanted like Batshuayi isn't wanted by Chelsea

Re: Official January transfer thread
Hate to mention the B but I think clubs are waiting to see what happens before bringing in EU players. A lot of loans happening you can understand it, if the political mess means signing and getting work permits for EU players is going to be balls ache then they just ship em back to their parent club for it to be their problem.

Fo the Communist 10:28 Fri Feb 1
Re: Official January transfer thread
I get the argument for waiting until the summer. But in doing so you have to accept that the second half of the season has been written off and you also have to trust in the belief that GSB are going to open their wallets. A fucking big leap of faith that is.

LeroysBoots 10:26 Fri Feb 1
Re: Official January transfer thread
100% guaranteed that the club will post some diatribe on the OS about the signing of Nasri, keeping Arnie, and maintaining all the staff for the run in

ludo21 10:02 Fri Feb 1
Re: Official January transfer thread
So we’re desperately short of players, especially in defence so what do we do on deadline day, nothing except ship out a CB.

Makes a lot of sense.

Bottom half finish for us this year i reckon.

Re: Official January transfer thread
I presumed that was his contract at Chelsea though I can’t believe it’s that much.
Either way Palace would have negotiated Chelsea paying some of whatever he earns.
Imagine they still got stuck for the £2m loan fee and the £1m bung to his agent.

Everyone likes to see players coming in but I’d rather wait til the summer to do proper business than bring in the likes of Batshuyai (who doesn’t want to play for us) or Havard Nordviedt.
What MP has to do is take a chance to give the likes of Silva, Coventry, Holland & Pask some time ahead of players who want to leave.

Re: Official January transfer thread
Bats confirmed loan to CP.

Can't afford to buy at 35-40m, so a loan only.

No fucking way his wage demand reportedly at 170k are true. Can't wait to hear the real numbers
